1-2 NL -- Min raising in Pos w/ suited connectors or small/mid PP
I do this occasionally w/ the theory being that most of the time people do not three bet, and effectively you have just made a 1-2 game play like a 2-4 game for one hand, and you have position.
On the other hand, I generally hate min raising, so I don't do it much. Is this a profitable play? An absolute loser? |

Is playing big pots in position good? Yes.
Does that mean you have to minraise? No. Why not make the pot even bigger with standard raises pf? |

I don't like min raises at all except on the turn vs fish to bloat the pot when I have a cinch hand. Make a pot size reraise pf... much better in the long run. And to your question, it is profitable, though slightly, but most players will exploit this.

Re: 1-2 NL -- Min raising in Pos w/ suited connectors or small/mid PP
I probably should be clearer. I would NEVER do this heads up. The situation I may do this is when there are at least 3-4 limpers in front of me.
Why I don't want to make a bigger raise? I want to see a multi player flop. I also don't want to be in a large pot w/ a relatively weak hand. Say I raise it to $12 w/ 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] and get one or two callers? I'm probably going to Cont Bet any flop with or without a hand. This sort of sucks as now I've invested $12-30 w/ relative trash. As for this being exploited . . . I agree, but if somebody reraises big you just fold and lose $4 (and the possibility of winning a big pot I guess). |
