If he has limped with a suited ace he either has flush or no flushdraw.

40% can be any ace, really.

as played, i call the river here. this is often a T, J or missed spade trying to take the pot after the turn got checked through.

I'm inclined to agree with those who advise betting the turn. I don't think you want to give a free card to anyone holding an A or a small spade. If you get raised on the turn it's probably safe to fold.
