But I think some people are overestimating things and assuming that it is a slam dunk British victory when it isn't.

[/ QUOTE ]

If this isn't a complete slam dunk, then explain how Israel would deal with the overwhelming British naval superiority.

The problem for the British Navy is getting it close enough to be useful. Once it's in range of the Israeli Air Force the two British Aircraft Carriers cannot project competitive air power. Once they're sunk, goodbye British Navy. Didn't Israel even sink an American ship recently when it got too close?

If full scale war between the UK and Israel did happen, the UK would have no problem getting air bases in arab countries. It would end up being the UK air and navy against Israel's air and navy. Israel wouldn't stand a chance in this situation. The UK would then bombard Israel's agricultural infrastructure and maintain an air and naval blockade. Israel would starve to death.

seems it would be easier for israel to obtain oil. also, they recently have far more experience with fighting wars.

Yeah all they got to do is just invade Saudi Arabia or Iran first. Whereas Britain would have to to all the trouble of buying what they don't get out the North Sea, from Norway.

The hostility of Israel's neighbours is a major weakness. Even if other countries are kept out of the fighting, I doubt any arab country is going to sell oil or allow trade during a war.

As has been stated previously, this question is meaningless unless we understand what is meant by winning. What political objectives are the sides trying to attain? Are we talking about a war of annihilation, where one party wins simply by destroying the other's capacity and/or will to continue fighting?

Israel has almost no capacity for power projection whatsoever. The UK's is limited, but still far superior. The odds would be much closer to even in a British attacker versus Israeli defender scenario than any other possible matchup. Israel has basically zero chance of winning in any other scenario, which is to say that there is a possibility (however slim) that the British could annihilate the Israeli nation while the reverse is a simple impossibility.

Israel has no chance of invading Great Britain.

A British attempt to invade Israel will be very messy and long-winded. The most likely outcome is British lack of motivation would trump her greater industrial output and it would fizzle out. The only decisive result would be a British win.

The best chance Israel might have would be to stumble upon a weapon of similar or greater strength to nuclear weapons, for instance the development of a nerve gas that could make the UK uninhabitable.

Reading this thread made me smile, then laugh,
then laugh out loud.

I think Isreal has only a small chance as long as GB doesn't spaz out/headbutt and get red carded near the end of the war.

How about Canada vs. Isreal.
We got some boats (icebreakers) and Used GB Subs but no army, we only have "Peace keepers" hahahahaha

Isreal has The most secure/heavily guarded airport in the world, Lots of M-1 Abrams and Uzzi's but no boats.

Oh, and Canada is too big for Isreal to bulldoze our settlements. Hahahahahaha

Also what about intercepting codes, figuring out ways to electronically get every enemy plane to dive into the ocean, impersonating the opposing general and ordering the troops into an ambush, contaminating the water supply with chemicals not presently known to man that will cause 24 hours of uncontrollable sneezing, etc. etc.

[/ QUOTE ]

lol, imo everyone is underestimating the 24-hour sneeze serum and technologies that will make every plane dive into the sea.
