Default Garage door remote and a motorcycle

I have an '06 R6 that I just got back from the shop after having the ECU replaced. The tech guy said that my garage door opener, which is a key chain type like an alarm remote, could have caused damaging interference in the ECU and that I shouldn't keep my bike key on it. How true is this? Can a garage remote really cause an ECU to go bad?

1. Does turning on a radio make your computer go haywire?

2. Do you believe that living near power lines is bad for your health?
