Re: New technology...How can the sites avoid mass collusion?
[ QUOTE ]
usually peope who try to collude aren't that good at poker to begin with. [/ QUOTE ] Bingo! I have never found colluders to be very bright. They have to sit on opposite side of a table to have any real effect in the first place. I've been online for 7 years and only twice have I been sure of collusion (both at Pacific). I informed Pacific who seemed to ignore me but I never saw them again. Colluders are pretty easy to spot. |

Re: New technology...How can the sites avoid mass collusion?
[ QUOTE ]
I live in a small town in Canada where a Redd Ball Internet is testing a new city wide wireless internet service. Basically, you sign up and can access the internet from anywhere in the city. It makes it pretty easy to get together with a buddy and share hole cards. I believe its only being tested in 3 or 4 cities in all of North America right now, but if it catches on it could end up being a big problem with regards to collusion. [/ QUOTE ] I don't knwo waht you have in canada but here in the states you can get a wireless card from companies like sprint/varizon that work anywhere you have normal cell phone coverage. I have one and it's absolutely wonderful. Obviously I don't use it to cheat (well mb not obviously but you know what i'm saying.) You don't even need any of these technologies. The best defense it just paying attention to weird patterns and reporting it. They only have to get cought once to get all their funds confiscated...and yes they can redeposit I guess but still it's a pretty good deterent imo. |

Re: New technology...How can the sites avoid mass collusion?
[ QUOTE ]
Regular internet usually involves ethernet cables, its way easier to run back and forth looking at each others screens if you don't have to worry about tripping over wires. I'm pretty concerned about this whole situation to be honest. [/ QUOTE ] If you play for a living, can you get workman's comp if you get hurt tripping over a wire while colluding? Or should I get AFLAC? |

Re: New technology...How can the sites avoid mass collusion?
The bottom line is that until USA regulates online gaming.
Nothing is gonna be totally safe and secure. Whether it be integrity of the site, secureness of funds, or cheating nothing is gonna be perfect.. |

I informed Pacific who seemed to ignore me but I never saw them again. Colluders are pretty easy to spot. [/ QUOTE ] There are two types of colluders. The first aggressive type trap raise, raise to push out pump the pot etc etc.. They are usually easy to spot and are donkeys when it comes to poker The second type, passive colluders, pretty much just share hole cards and stay out of each others way post flop. They don't take 2 or 3 big bets from you in one go but they chip away at your profits over the long run. From what I have seen, they are usually pretty good players and this type of collusion is very difficult to spot. It's also almost impossible for a site to prove or so it seems, read on. I actually snuffed out a passive type collusion ring (at least 5 guys) at the higher limit Pacific games a while back. I played with these guys for over a year before I started to suspect them and that was only because 2 of them started following each other around like puppy dogs (it was only single table back then). Through some creative use of Poker Tracker I proved to myself without doubt they were sharing hole cards, I reported them 100% confident they were colluding. The site did nothing. I know its possible to collude using the phone or IM now, wireless internet will probably bring about larger scale collusion where you may have 10 or 20 guys all in the same room passively colluding. |
