7 Stud Question From Frond
"Do you feel that 7 Card Stud will ever make a comeback into live casino play in Las Vegas and elsewhere and be popular like it once was?"
No chance. Casual players would prefer not to memorize upcards. |

Re: 7 Stud Question From Frond
Would you say then that it makes no sense for someone on the ground floor of 7CS strategy to continue their education in the game & just stick to holdem?
If the interest in 7CS from the casual players steadily decreases, where will that leave the game 5, 10 years from now? If one is not already a 7CS expert, does it make any sense to educate oneself in the game if there will be no one left but 7CS specialists several years from now? My main game has been holdem, but I've been interested in learning 7CS as a 2nd game - as just something to keep everything a little fresh & different from time to time - but I'm definitely still a beginner and your post makes me wonder if it makes any real sense to continue my 7CS education. Do any other games out there have even a chance of competing with HE as far as its popularity? Or it going to be HE for the foreseeable future? If you were to suggest a 2nd game to learn - what would it be? Sorry for the lack of succinctness - I'm working on it. |

It never hurts to learn another game.

Re: 7 Stud Question From Frond
I would think that, while 7CS in and of itself will continue to decline in popularity, mixed games such as HORSE will probably gain in popularity. Which, of course, requires at least a basic understanding of 7CS to succeed.

Re: 7 Stud Question From Frond
David,
There are still numerous high limit games available in New Jersey, and these games often have much weaker players than comparable hold em games. There are also more young high limit players sitting down - so while I don't think it's going to overtake hold em, there are numerous profitable opportunities at the high limits (outside of Las Vegas which just has the one 50-100 game). Re: 7 Stud Question From Frond
I enjoy playing HORSE on Pokerstars (although only micro-limits are available). I play that game for fun, and then play hold'em for much higher stakes for competition.

Re: 7 Stud Question From Frond
I have found that playing Stud has really helped my other games a lot. It is a shame that it has died out. It is very hard to get friends to play anything but NLHE in a home game. I think that most people are under the huge misconception that NLHE is an easy game to play. Easy to learn but IMO very difficult to master. Mention 7SC to them and they all say, "nah none of that stud ****, let's just play HE". Too bad, because it is truly a great poker game.

You need to play with older people from the North East.
