I'm pretty interested in hearing an answer for this too. I hear it happens a lot more for intangible items. Like autographs or antiques.

i also had multiple surfboards I sold as well as a snowboard...also sell some electronics too. Just stuff I look around the house or neighborhood for that is cheap and then resell.

surfinillini , so you buy used stuff in your neighborhood then sell on ebay correct? but what do you price your stuff in order to make it worth it/to make a profit? for example if you go to a garage sale and buy a 30 dollar snowboard, do you make the auction start at 30 or 40 dollars? do your customers pay for the shipping?

you'd be surprised how much you can buy at a garage sale. People don't mind selling this stuff for $20 or less. I bought a ZJ surfboard and a burton snowboard (both used) at a garage sale for $50 total. People who are moving just want to get rid of their stuff, any money to them is good since it's essentially "found money". (I received $115 for the surfboard and $75 for the snowboard for a profit of $140)

I used to surf and while I don't snowboard and my brother worked at a play it again sports (before they went out of business) so I know the resale value of sporting goods.

For other stuff I just look for similar auctions on ebay and see how much they go for so I know what type of turnaround I'll get.

As far as auction pricing I usually start every auction I have at $1.00 and have no reserve. I offer free shipping to people who "buy it now" for some items. I start every auction at 5pm on Sunday nights and end them at the same time the next week.

How can I buy your book, or DVD which will teach me how to make money on ebay, and perhaps how to set up my own web site?

Ask me anything about owning a business

[/ QUOTE ]

I just formed an LLC (1 person LLC), got my state sellers permit, got a state EIN, got a federal EIN, and got a business checking account set up. On Jan 1st I'll launch my e-commerce store.

I'm still unsure on paying myself. Can you just take whatever you need anytime?

So you, your wife, and a part time shipper profit 120k+ per month. You have almost no overhead to speak of.

Tell me three things you don't like about what you do.
