Default Quit for the day or play on?

sup guys,

this situation comes up alot, and for me it has gone both ways a few times.

Say you set a goal to play 20 sngs a day. Profit wise you wish to make 100 per day. Now, say you go on a run and make 200 in your first 10 sngs.

Do you keep on playing and go do other things for the rest of the day? OR do you play until you reach your daily goal of 20 sngs and risk losing your profits?

I know that theortically you should keep playing, because if you're a winner, not playing more is costing you money.

But, I just want to know wut many of you pros out there do.

- peace out

you could use that "extra" $100 and buy a bag of weed and spend rest of the day smoking it.

Let me put it this way: If you played your 20 SNGs for the day and ended up -$100, would you play more to make up for the loss?

No?

Then you sholdnt stop playing while you still have some poker in you for the day.

Assuming you are a winning player, each hour you put in gives you more chances of making money. You should play while it feels good to you, and you are not tired. If you get tired, feel bad, tilt or whatever, then stop.

If your long term results are profiting $5 per SNG, and your goal is $100 per day, you have to play 20. What are you gonna do tomorrow when you have the same goal, and after 20 played, you're down $40?

If I've played enough I stop. I don't take daily variance into account when I decide whether to go on or not.
You should never play poker to "make up" money lost. Or to make up my expected daily earnings.
You are always even. Play poker to play well, and that will lead to the money. It's unrealistic to set single day goals, because variance is too high.

i take psychological effects into account.

was i running bad before that good set? is it the end of the time period? (record profit/loss on a weekly/monthly/quarterly/etc basis.)

if this is a continuation of running good, then i keep going. if it's a change from a losing streak, i stop and enjoy the moment. yes, it might cost me $, but i think mental health also needs to be taken into consideration.

Keep playing your 20 for the day. You can't expect to achieve exactly $100 of profit for the day, every day. There will be some days where you're up more more than that, some days where you're in the minus for the day (hopefully not many). Over the longhaul you'll see what you average and at what level of buy-in. Don't worry about individual daily results, just concentrate on making good decisions while playing.
Hope this helps,
Carl
