Video card tip for multi-monitors
I built a separate computer for poker and had no intention of using it for video games, video editing, Photoshop, or anything else that would require a high-power video card, so I got a cheap one with 64MB that would handle two monitors. I ran a 2001FP for four tables, and a 17" for the desktop, lobby, PT, PA, etc.
This worked fine for a year until Lee Jones sent me a free 2001FP for being such a loyal customer. I replaced the 17" with the new 2001FP and suddenly dragging tables into place became incredibly sluggish. The table would follow the cursor by several inches, then leap forward, off the screen. It took forever to get four tables into place. I replaced the video card with another inexpensive card, but with 256MB. Problem solved. Cliff notes: If you're planning on running two big monitors, get a video card with a lot of RAM even if you pass up all the other features. |
