I think your play is fine. Judging by his actions, I would put him on something like 78 or possibly A7 with the ace of spades.

If the board pairs again or another spade hits the river you can slow down. I think worrying about an overflush at this point is monsters under the bed, so to speak.

It is certainly worth a shot. If they don't have a Q or a 7 they're going to be hard pressed to continue and you don't mind if they call.
