I love metal.

Some of my favorites:
Metallica - greatest metal band ever
Killswitch Engage
Lamb of God
Slayer

Metal is such a broad genre glam metal, nwobhm, death metal, black metal, thrash metal, etc. I can understand why people would love something like Metallica, and dislike say Cannibal Corpse its totally different stuff.

Chris Adler of Lamb of God is a pretty bad ass drummer.

Black Sabbath (most underrated band ever, particularly the stuff w/Ozzy)

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd hardly call Black Sabbath underrated. I think they get their due as pioneers of the genre.

see, this is a whole different genre of metal that doesn't even come close to the sound of tradition sabbath type metal...

check out CoB, arch enemy, norther, amorphis, equilibrium, in flames all awesome melodic Euro style metal...

What do you mean by "best" or "metal?" I think one of the most accessible heavy bands is Chevelle, as mentioned, but plenty of people would say they aren't metal. Opeth is phenomenal, but they're not at all popular and many people would classify them as death rather than just metal.

[/ QUOTE ]

Isn't death just a sub-genre of metal? If it's a subgenre of metal, it belongs in this discussion, especially since OP made it broad enough to include "hard rock".
