I remember seeing some story on a Vegas Legends show about some broke ass homeless guy who comes into the casino with like $10 and runs it up to >$100k at blackjack, with his last hand going something like this:
6x AT (hit) K |

I'm highly disappointed. I was expecting him to go for a 35-1 shot.

Think you meant this:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105104/quotes John Cutter: Charlie, ever played roulette? Charles Rane: On occasion. John Cutter: Well, let me give you a word of advice. Always bet on black! |

It's kinda funny, on the surface this seems like a silly bet. But when you take into account that there are no gambling taxes in England, and the fact that he actually made money going on television circuit out there after winning (not to mention other silly endorsements he might have gotten), even if he only gets $10k in additional money from the spin it comes out to be +EV (he could get even less and still be +EV). I think he did some kind of documentary about this, and a few other things.
From a risk of ruin perpsective obv. it's retarded. |

It was done as a reality series on Sky One back in 2004, with the spin shown live. It originally was to be held at the Hard Rock, but they backed out at the last minute, and the Plaza decided to accept his bet.

The homeless guy story can be found in the book American Roulette.
In that version he starts with one dollar. Bets it on 36 or something at roulette. hits his number 5 times in a row betting the 100 max the last 3 rolls. Then moves to BJ and runs his like 12k into like 300k or something. Then he moves to craps and runs it to a mil before passing out in the table and being dragged up to a suite where he stayed for a week or so as he lost it all back. |

![]() Packer was very generous as well. He'd put the dealers up for $50k in a single hand of BJ. |
