I work as a customer service representative for the NRA, and in our pitch it says that the United Nations is trying to pass a treaty to take away our guns (which they don't have the power to do in the US) and that Canada, England and Australia have already passed similar laws and their crime rate has actually went up.
Is this true? if so, why? |

This post got me thinking about gun control so I did a little bit of research. I thought that this was an interesting site that included references.
LINK I found the right to carry section to be of particular interest. |

Hmm. Only one other guy with a picture of his pistol, eh?
Perhaps I'm weirder than I thought. |

I know of at least one more poster who carries semi-regularly... but that's about it.
Shrug. I carry the kershaw because I like it more than the spyderco, from a weight/balance standpoint. The kershaw is nice and heavy, on both ends. The spyderco is just weirdly balanced. But they're both great knives. I don't know why I don't just carry the spyderco. Cuz I'm used to carrying two knives? Oh, and I think you need to post video of you doing your job, Boro. Sounds entertaining yasher |

I don't carry but I've been wanting to get a gun for a while but just haven't got around to it. I'm sure I won't be carrying my weapon either concealed or not, my wife and I just want one for at the house so we can feel safer, and especially for her when I'm on the road.
What recommendations would you guys make for a first time gun purchaser? |

For your purposes, the less care and maintenance the better. I would just get a simple double-action revolver, probably in .357 caliber. Few moving parts, just point and click.
Do you have children? |

[/ QUOTE ] No children. What you say does sound good too. So once I decide on a .357, do I just pick out a brand that I want? What are the 'rankings' of the brands and what price range am I looking at for each? Thanks for the help, really appreciate it. |
