Re: Girl Can\'t Name All the Continents?!
[ QUOTE ]
This is clearly a trivia thread. No cheating. What's the world's most populous metropolitan area? Who's the head of state in the world's most populous country? What are the 4 tournaments in the men's tennis grand slam? What's the closest star to our sun? What country won the 2002 World Cup (men's footie/soccer)? Name 5 varieties of red wine. [/ QUOTE ] 1 no clue (from europe tho dont know if its well known in US) 2 dont know his exact name 3 Could probly name 3 maybe 4 4 could take a guess but not sure if its right, saw the answer and nope didnt know 5 know this one 6 probly know 2-3 , 5 now way Btw these arent must know questions at all, maybe 1% of the ppl would know the answer to all these questions probly even less... A guy should make a question list like this but with questions he sees as must know and you would think a guy to be a moron if he didnt know |

Re: Girl Can\'t Name All the Continents?!
"The closest star to the sun is Proxima Centauri, but its brighter neighbor Alpha Centauri, a double star, is so nearly the same distance that data about it are usually given."
From some random internet site that seemed like it knew what it was talking about. |

Re: Girl Can\'t Name All the Continents?!
[ QUOTE ]
I don't here the word continent very often, but I'm sure I hear the word Europe almost every day. [/ QUOTE ] If someone never really learned that Europe was a continent, just hearing the word Europe isn't gonna magically teach them that its a continent. |

Would you consider knowing wether the Moon circled the Earth or the other way around must know or not? If somebody doesnt know the answer to this well then imho that person is a dumb [censored] no offence... |

[/ QUOTE ] The moon/earth thing goes to a much deeper question of understanding physics and is taught more specifically (enlightenment/renaissance in social studies, physics in science), while the continents are probably taught when you're really young and then whatever. If you told someone the answer and they responded with "what's Europe?" or something, yea, they're pretty stupid. But if they just don't know them all, who really cares? |
