Re: ~~~Unofficial Baseball Offseason Thread~~~
[ QUOTE ]
Orioles sign Chad Bradford to a 3 year, 10.5 million dollar deal. So, they spent 41.5 million over three years on 3 mediocre to above average middle relievers...what exactly went on in the Orioles upper management meetings this year? "We can't compete with the Red Sox and Yankees unless we have the best bullpen in the world!" "But, sir! If we spend all of our money in the bullpen our rotation and offense will still be poor! We won't have any leads for them to protect!" "I will not tolerate thinking in this office. You're fired!" [/ QUOTE ] The sad thing is, they aren't even getting a great bullpen. |

Re: ~~~Unofficial Baseball Offseason Thread~~~
Dayn Perry has given his opinion on the best and worst FA signings so far this offseason.
Matthews, Pierre, Lee, Eaton, and Nomar are his worst. He only has 1 guy in the positive so far. Yeesh. BTW, what do most of the Sporting Events posters think of this guy? I think he is decent, but wouldn't consider myself an educated evaluator. |

Re: ~~~Unofficial Baseball Offseason Thread~~~
That is the first time I have ever heard of him, but he seems to actually know baseball...a rarity for writers for the major media. That article is well researched and accurate...Although some minor signings have been very good this offseason.

[/ QUOTE ] i assume he is talking about bending over for ground balls, taking the slides when pivoting for the double play, etc [/ QUOTE ] As opposed to OFs who run farther and dive all over the place (some of them) and catchers who squat and have hard objects thrown at them at 90 MPH? Or SS who basically do everything a 2B does except they throw harder? I am just curious as to what evidence there is that 2Bs wear down more than other players over their careers. It doesn't seem that different than playing any other position except C (and DH, I suppose). |
