Health Insurance Question

i know there have been threads about this before, but i searched for them and they weren't helpful enough.

i'm recently graduated and temporarily unemployed. i plan on getting a job within 6 months, but in the meantime i want worst-case-scenario type coverage. i've tried shopping around online, but all the plans i could find were 300+ a month (i live in NY right now) with coverage for office visits/prescriptions, etc with low deductibles. i don't smoke or have any serious issues.

can anyone point me in the direction of a company operating in NY that will sell me a minimalist policy to insure me against things like car accidents, brain tumors, etc?

or maybe there's a place i can go to get free/cheap personalized advice for this?
