St. Louis- the city smells and the people are rather unintelligent and the arch is a big waste of space

For me its Rochester, NY and its not even close. Granted I haven't been to some of the gems previously mentioned.

Let me list the reasons:

-Want a job? Walmart is hiring, that's about it.

-Like the sun? Good luck. Its overcast here 895 days a year. You haven't seen pasty white until you've been here.

-Like going outside? I hope you like Rain, Sleet and Snow.

-Want to go do something? Prepare for a 30 minute drive. Nothing is close to anything. Public transit is non-existant.

-Want to swim? Don't go in Lake Ontario unless you're up on your anti-biotics.

-Like looking at unique buildings? We have closed out falling down factories everywhere around. Thats interesting I suppose.

Buffalo and Syracuse, NY are in pretty similar shape. I drive to Niagara Falls quite a bit to hit Seneca Niagara and I'm always amazed. Other than the casino itself, everything on the american side of the falls is damn near falling down. Here we have this huge beautiful new casino and hotel building and all around it old falling down houses from the 0's and 30's and dumpy 40 year old hotels.

I am counting the days until we get out of here. Its about 35 as of today!

I go to Atlanta for about a week at a time maybe 3-4 times/year. I stay at my gf's parent's house in Marietta. Things I've done: hang out at Centennial, visit the aquarium, walk around, hit the bars in Buckhead (?), etc. I think the city absolutely sucks. How do I "do it right?"

[/ QUOTE ]

If Atlanta sucks so bad, what makes a better city so much better?

Atlanta catches a lot of concert tours and other events that go through the US, and has all the standard things a big city has, including suburbs. And don't say it's the food because I've traveled a lot and good food is available everywhere, you just can't be snobby about it by saying the food in XXXX sucks because you went to one or two places on a hunch and struck out.

Are you serious? Do you really want people to go through the myriad reasons San Francisco or Denver, just to name two, are better cities?

Jesus. Just to knock off the obvious, good luck getting sushi half as good at twice the price in Atlanta as any one of a number of west coast cities.

I visited a friend in San Francisco a few months ago and I had a good time. Besides having some coastline and mountains, and houses bunched together, it didn't seem much different/better than any other big city. Since you know so much more than I do about this, I'd like to hear your explanation if it amounts to anything worth reading.

Right, so there is absolutely no good sushi in Atlanta? Sounds like you haven't even tried or are just way to pretentious about it.
