Default Windows Media Player - videos look green

just got a new computer a few days ago and windows media player won't work. whenever i play something on it, the whole video is mostly green with a few other colors. the shapes are right (i.e. if i watch a video of a person running , I will see the person, but the he will be green). I thought it might be that I had forgotten to install my graphics card drivers, but I tried that and It didn't work . I also dled and installed SLD 2.2 and Divx, but its still the same.

1) Pretend you're on an Apple ][+ and a monochrome Black and Green monitor

2) Drop acid...it'll look cool

3) call support for whomever is responsible for your new computer.

Sorry for the non-informative response, but I haven't run into that, and on a brand new machine I'd be calling whoever I bought the damn thing from first.....that's messed up.

Edit: Damnit....I said I was going to refrain from/tone down on these drunk posts. *sigh* Hope someone has a better suggestion.

GL OP! That's weird.

I used to have this. I know for a fact its a codec issue. Whenever I had this issue I just began by downloading every codec I could find, that fixed it for me.

TAKE OFF THE GREEN TINTED SUNGLASSES

Seriously i would try www.videolan.org (the vlc player) and see what happens if thats works report back..

vlc player is a player that basically plays anything and everything correctly.

also kind of obviously try a different video.
