Easy $50 MTT question
down to a $50 pokerstars buying, 600+ some players. I'm at the final table of 9 with the 8th SMALLEST stack of 67k. Blinds 4k/8k, cant remember ante. This puts me at an M of 6.5 or so, so its desperation time.
I'm sure I can fold into 7th or so, but i want to go for the win. After 2 hands of big multiplayer pots, 7 have gone by raised PF and then folded. Now I pick up KTo UTG+3. This is in the top 17% and Harrington would say push. I did and lost, of course. Anyone else wait on a better hand? |

Re: Easy $50 MTT question
No although pushing KTo puts you in a spot of possible domination if people are calling tight. Still you should be pushing a lot at this point and KTo is at the better end of your range. If you want to fold into 7th that's fine but that's not winning poker, I'm glad you went for it.

Re: Easy $50 MTT question
Generally, yes. A M of 6.5 is desperate, but certainly not reason to push KTo. You did have time, and you certainly don't climb many spots, often, by pushing KTo in MP (which UTG3 is anyway)
People misinterpret M sometimes, it states how many orbits you can play. Of course there's the next blind jump to consider, but, really, I'd rather wait for a decent hand even if the wait costs me chips. Because I can double again and with antes in play at this stage, even with an blind increase, your M will be larger than 6.5 if you do get called, even at the next blind level. Make sense? |

Good push with 5 players to act.

Re: Easy $50 MTT question
IIRC on Stars with 67k and 4k/8k blinds your M is just short of 5 because of the antes, and you have only little more than 8 BBs.
It sucks to be the short stack at a full FT. But that said, with around 600 entries there should be a little more than 900k chips on the table, and it really matters how they're distributed. Without any deep stacks after me I push KT every time ... in this situation anybody at risk of losing half of their chips by calling will only do so with PRIME hands. On the other hand, if LP or the blinds count stacks 4 - 5 times you size ... well, you get the picture. |

[/ QUOTE ] I guess i have to disagree with your thoughts on waiting, but of cousrse thats why i asked the question. Baiscally i'm down on the 'dead zone'to use Harrington's terminology in about 6 hands. While a double up if I waited 10 more hands puts me at or around 6.5, again, i'm still desperate. If I steal this I added a good % of my chipstack. If I double up I now have a lot more options available to me, including stop n go's and possibly loose calling short stacks. The crux of the hands seems to be whether KTo is good enough, and the response seems to be predominatnly, yes, it is barely good enough. |
