Nothing wrong with how you played it, except don't lead river.

Turn CRAI seems nice, but as you note, you may wiff.

I do sometimes just open push turns like this. Some villians will never lay down a nut flush draw, and in this case he has top pair. Just loses you more money here as he hit, but I have had it work for me.
