Villain plays poker. has shown ability to fold dominated hands. I had just bluffed him off a nice pot and showed. He might play a little weak with big $$$ pots. i wanted to keep him around as much as poss. |

Shouldn't this be raised preflop?

I have played with this villain a lot. I like the flat call as he will dump most things you beat to a reraise PF. Flop bet is good, turn bet should be bigger. River is tricky as he is capable of showing up with a wide variety of hands here but bet/folding is good as I don't think he ever raises with something you beat. He has a habit of betting huge when he has a huge hand trying to sell it as a bluff.

Thanks crazy. YOu are very close ot my read on him. i think he dumps to a pf raise.
As for the river, maybe a bet against this type of player is the best way to go. i wanted to give him a chance to buy the pot with an overpair. |

EMC why would i overbet the pot on the lop?
Give me good responses i hate these autopilot bs posts. Read the post and reply with thought or don't reply. The pot was $2.25 or something, i bet $2. On the turn the pot is $6 i bet $4, again i want overpairs and the like, in the pot. |

What is wrong with reraising preflop? You think he lays down everything you beat and calls with everything that beats you. Personally I'd pay a couple of bucks to get such a precise read on his hand before we even see the flop.
Check your PT database for JJ. If you reraise and take it down you win $1.25. How does this compare to your average results for JJ? As for keeping overpairs in on the turn. Do you really think he calls $4 and folds if you bet $6? |

avfletch: i have aquired this read by doing exactly that. reraising preflop and getting a fold. i wnated to play the pair for set value. i hit my set. the arguement for 4 vs 6 please explain. Why would a $6 be better than $4? If he ever folds a hand for $6 vs $4 it would be a hand i beat. i want him in with hands i beat.
I don't follow the logic behind potting the turn. I bet an amoutn that made drawing unfavorable, and hopefully kept him in the p[ot. isn't this EXACTLY what we want in a villain? |
