People will say Affleck is hatable. I thought he was great in it though. ET's a good answer, though I'd bet today's 15-20 male demographic would be bored by it.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, the old claymation one. No way anybody didn't love that movie as a kid. I still watch it when I catch it as xmas time.

the sixth sense

I'd nix The Sixth Sense (too predictable), Rocky (not really into the boxing or the Stalone), and Casablanca (tone is off to me and the relationship dynamics is dated). It isn't really the movies fault but I'd nix It's A Wonderful Life too just because it has been played (and seen by me) way too many times as part of a "Christmas tradition".

I'd second and support the nominations of Princess Bride (really should win), Shrek, and The Sting. I like pretty much every other movie (that I've seen which is ~95%) that was mentioned too. Oh, and those Australian movies are really good. The Dish would probably be a good safe choice too if more people saw it.

Oh, and I guess I can proxy the obvious no votes for the original star wars movies. I loved them and grew up on them but was in college when they started the prequels and some of my college friends (mostly women but a few guys) who had never seen the movies when young saw them for the first time and disliked them. Classic lines like "But I wanted to get the power converters" or "I care" do not go over so well on a first viewing as a mature viewer.

I might be in love with you. These are like my 3 favorite movies. Besides Shawshank.

I did NOT like ET as a child. For some odd reason ET scared the crap out of me. More so than even Gremlins.
