First snow ever- PS 1/2
Was this a good spot? I didn't like having two villains in the hand, but just decided to go for it with both of them drawing.

Re: First snow ever- PS 1/2
At higher stakes I wouldn't like it because its suspicious when you go from 3 cards to pat (one reason why when you catch 3 cards that actually make you pat you should ALWAYS bet on the end with like a rough 9 or better) and you will get looked up a lot. But at 1/2 where they are mostly playing their own hands its not a bad spot so good job.

Re: First snow ever- PS 1/2
This is something you do very rarely in this situation so you should wait until you have ideal cards for it. This hand might qualify if you drew K62 because your hand would have little other value.
Your actual hand does have value. You can check after the first draw and hope they give you a free card. Then you draw to your 862 and have a real chance to make something. It isn't enough for snowing to be +EV, it must have higher EV than checking and that seems pretty improbable. |

Re: First snow ever- PS 1/2
I'd rather snow HU than into two people. Though, to be honest, I haven't snowed in the 1/2 game at all so far, since people are calling so terribly light.

If I were going to snow here, I would play the betting exactly like this, but draw 1 on the second round.

Re: First snow ever- PS 1/2
How did you know that both of them were drawing? If the purpose of your second round bet was to find out, well, you won't always find out. The type of players that constantly limp predraw are the ones that never raise when they improve to a one-card draw, and sometimes decide to call down all the way with a weakish pat hand.
Your hand isn't hopeless, and the best snowing hands are hopeless ones that contain a lot of keycards. It's easy to get a free draw in this spot. Passive players will take a free draw when they improve to a one-card draw in multiway pots. This is something to note about your opponents, BTW: whether they will bet when they improve in spots like this. After the decision to stand pat, you have to bet again (as you did) and fold to a raise (nobody who raises you is ever going to lay down). The river is also an auto bet/fold. Snowing is easy once you commit to it. Making a right decision as to whether or not to commit to it is a little trickier, however. |

Re: First snow ever- PS 1/2
I'm new to this game and I was wondering if someone could explain the concept of snowing to me

Re: First snow ever- PS 1/2
Snowing is when you stand pat with a hand that you know isn't a good pat hand. You basically convince your opponent you have a good hand, and then bet when you can and hope they believe you and/or miss their draw and fold on the end. "bluffing" is when you bet knowing if you get called you lose, "snowing" is when you stand pat with a hand you know is a loser if it gets shown down. So I guess to pull a successful snow you also need to bluff on the end but the whole thing just gets called snowing.

Re: First snow ever- PS 1/2
ok thanks. If you have seen a lot of the same card for example say I had seen all of the 7's and but my hand was a 10 or J hi would this be a good time to snow?
