I hear tunica has some good poker. New Orleans has some poker. The rest of the SE I doubt it.

New Orleans does. Harrah's in downtown is the place to go.

As for the other cities you mentioned, casinos are not legal in those states. There are certainly some underground games in those cities but I wouldn't know the first thing about finding them.

What about Cherokee in NC??
I've heard that place mentioned a couple times.

And Tunica, MS (near Memphis) might have the best live-poker in the region (debateable, but many would rate it better than Biloxi or New Orleans).

I just got back from the Beau Rivage in Biloxi. It's got the nicest poker room in the Southeast -- even nicer than the Horseshoe in Tunica. I've never been to Harrah's NO.

Overall I would think Tunica has the best collection of poker rooms in the South.

I live in Atlanta and that place is heavily advertised. According to this review, there's no poker or even blackjack or anything. There's no real point in going there.

It doesn't look like this is a complete list, but you can find some useful info on many of these poker rooms at Poker Wiki.

Don't go to the Harrah's in NC, there is no poker there.

So why is this place even mentioned?

I guess I read rumors that they MIGHT be getting poker at some point or something like that??

Everything I've read about the new room at Beau-Biloxi is that it's very nice.
Not sure what kind of action they are getting there but i'm sure it's a decent selection.

harrah's new orleans is decent, not great. Haven't been there post-Katrina though but I have read it is reasonably busy with good games.

Definitely most selection in tunica of course.

And as we have mentioned before, January is absolutely poker-crazy in Tunica with a WPT event at the Gold Strike, a WSOP-circuit event at the Grand, all the prelim events and satellites that go along with those, and some pretty wild cash-games at the Horseshoe (and probably some tournaments of their own I would think).
Even Sam's Town gets better action during that time I have been told.

Literally thousands of poker players I believe are in town for all the action.

If you're thinking of coming then you should try to book your hotel room NOW.
