Re: What does this say about me?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] from his point of view he 'owned' me with his 'super awesome tricky c/min raise' really gets me riled up. [/ QUOTE ] Have you anything to suggest that he's thinking this? He may have thought to himself when the cards were flipped over "wow how often are two sets going to be out that guy got unlucky". I often assume internet players who suck out/cold deck me are [censored] who think they are experts etc.... but when I play live and these situations crop up usually the donk is at least aware to some degree that it was a lucky situation or lucky hit. Most ppl arent obnoxious when given a chance. [/ QUOTE ] Not to mention, who's responsible for becoming riled up? And why? Why give someone that power to affect you that way? b |

Re: What does this say about me?
This happened again tonight and MDMA understood exactly why this would piss me off much more than just if they led flop.

Fold preflop. You're almost definetely not getting the implied odds you need to flop a set here. [/ QUOTE ] How can you possibly know this to be true? I can see nowhere in this thread that tells me how large the blinds were, how deep both players were, how aggressive the villain was , or any other pertinent factors. |

Re: What does this say about me?
[ QUOTE ]
However, I got pretty pissed off at losing to his hand the way that he played it. [/ QUOTE ] I fail to see what was so donkish about the way he played the hand. Heads up & he flopped top set, the only draw he has to worry about is QJ, not out of the question but not extremely likely since he raised preflop. Guess I'm a donkey too because; depending on my read of YOU, I'd have maybe checked the flop also, hoping to represent AK, & induce a bet. A bet here runs the real risk of getting NO further action. Maybe it WASN'T the BEST way to play it, but it certainly wasn't THAT bad. |

Re: What does this say about me?
Wow the idiots who think the only way of winning a pot with a small pair is by hitting a set need to stfu saying he should have folded preflop. Jesus.
As for the OP, I feel the same way when people play their hands badly and still cold deck me. Especially when the leave the table the next hand. |

What does this say about me? [/ QUOTE ] That your ego is too large. The fact that you chose to post it on the forum reinforces this conclusion. |

Re: What does this say about me?
I can relate to what you're saying.
In my opinion it's frustration that he played it in such a way that he telegraphed his hand to you, but you were still unable to fold, thus you doubt yourself and feel that you made a mistake. Even though you know that in terms of game theory etc your hand was far too strong to fold for the amount and/or the situation, the fact that you KNEW he had what he had, and he played it badly enough to tell you this, but you still couldn't fold, can really be frustrating. If it's ego related it's more in the way of self doubt/having high standards for yourself than in feeling that your opponent didn't deserve to be dealt what he was because he played bad or whatever, at least for me, anyhow. |

Re: What does this say about me?
LOL i know the guy who put that beat on you, Ive been playing with him for months and i taught him half his game. He didnt play badly he just 3rd leveled you. I told him about the aggression differences online and how you can reel in a fish by sprinkling some blood in the water.....long story short, you got played.
What they say about ego is true, i still remember the last hand i let my play be decided by ego, and before we flipped over i said if i lose this hand then ill never play like that again. I also see a lot of people feel like im bullying them decide to play back at me just for pride, its a big leak. So really it might sound like a flames but im trying to help you, dont be so quick to judge the other guys transparency when he was only playing that way to exploit you. |
