As a testament to our high security and inspection standards...
On an international flight last month I used a daypack as a carry on. This is the same pack that I use when I ride my bike to the day job. Clipped to one of the outer pockets, out of easy view, was a can of pepper spray [I carry it for dogs]. Went right through the xray machine and hand inspection. I realised it when I was at the hotel on the far end. Needless to say I was shocked. That could have been ugly at the airport. Point of the above rambling... They don't seem to really check things as well as the fancy machines and spiffy uniforms will have you believe. Of course YMMV
