Re: who lives in chicago???
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] I live in Naperville. With no traffic it takes about 35 min. to get downtown. If there is a lot of traffic it will probably take 1 hour to 1.5 hours. There is also a train station that runs right through Naperville to Chicago and that takes about an hour because there are so many stops. Also the downtown in Naperville is probably the best downtown of the area suburbs. Theres a good amount of bars and places to eat. [/ QUOTE ] I live in Naperville TOO! Yeah for other 2+2ers being in my town! [/ QUOTE ] Hinsdale >>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>Naperville |

Re: who lives in chicago???
what school? depaul?
the south loop isn't too bad...its still coming along as far as having an identity/neighborhoody feel, but i can definitely see it being "quieter" than lincoln park, the gold coast, or wrigleyville. plus you'll be closer to the museums, art institute, millenium park, etc. if you do want to hit the northside (depending on where you go), its prob a $10-15 cab ride... i've played in the recreational co-ed volleyball leagues in the summer @ north ave beach & north beach (the bar). both are fun, but the north ave beach league = much better eye candy. |

Re: who lives in chicago???
I live in wilmette right now, and it sucks(but that's just cause it doesn't suit my needs as a 26 year old). But if you are gonna live in a suburb, then live in evanston. Its a college town and is right next to chicago, with it just being a 15 minute drive into downtown. That being said, live in the city, like lincoln park, lincoln square, or lakeview

Re: who lives in chicago???
I just graduated from Michigan and moved out to Lincoln Park by the lake. Never lived in a big city before, but I love it here. Definitely an affordable city to live in compared to my friends' stories living in NYC, DC, and SF (I realize those are extremely expensive though).

Re: who lives in chicago???

hapa, yah depaul, chicago kent, or loyola. office is on lasalle. thanks again everyone... [/ QUOTE ] As your entire life is centered in the loop area of the city, I highly recommend NOT living in a 'burb - the commute will kill you. I like in Lakeview & work in the West Loop, I take the Halsted Bus into work and it still takes me a good 45 minutes to get home during rush hour. And that's all right in the city! This city can definitely be quiet - just pick a place a few blocks off of any main thoroughfare, and suddenly you're in residential-ville, with only a 10-15 minute walk to the train, grocery store, etc. Are you planning on bringing a car? That will make a difference in where you choose to live. This is a great city! |
