shove

i hate raising ak out of position w/ an awkward stack size and possibly missing the flop

you're only slightly above 10 bb
just shove and hope to get called.

I figured that shoving would be the correct move but I actually just called. This was my thinking: I thought it was weird that the short stacked limped. (that usually signals a big hand) If I lost a coin flip to him it would be a nice chunk of my stack. Also, the only player who could bust me hadn't acted yet. I figured if I hit the flop I would shove, and if I didn't I could easily check/fold with my stack intact and look for a better spot. Does this make sense to anyone or am I playing like a Mary?

I would shove, I want to see all the five cards with my AK. I don’t want to face the difficult decision if I raise and BB reraises all-in or I’m raised on the flop when I missed. I hate to call all-in with AK after I have raised. I want to play for the 1st place and if BB has got me beat: “Nice hand, Sir” and move on. Let the other players make those difficult decisions.

Mary had a little lamb.

IF button limped QQ and below - he can release it on A or K high flop when you shove. If button limped SOMETHING ELSE - like JTs - and flop has no A or K - what do you do then?

AK is either a good favorite over other aces or a small dog against QQ-, and only in BIG trouble against AA (and behind KK but not all THAT dead). AK likes to see all 5 cards.

Shove it and who cares if the opponent no knows exactly what you have - you have 11 BB's and can pick up 2.5 BB's (+antes?) right here if you are not called.

NOT shoving it is a glaring, terrible, awful tournament-losing mistake.
