rich, in cash games the idea of "waiting for a better spot" is generally wrong because you can rebuy. Assuming bankroll isnt an issue, if you believe it is profitable to call even by 1$ then you should call. Waiting for better spots and passing up profitable spots is a common mistake.

That's generally accepted, but I don't always agree. Sometimes it is preferable to wait for a better spot even in a cash game...IF you are against the type of player who is extremely likely to offer that better spot in the same session (i.e. he's looking/waiting to make a big score and run). Granted, its risky to assume this about anyone, but sometimes you can just see it happening an hour or two before it acutally does. If its close to 50/50, and I'm one of the better players at the table, I'll sometimes wait.

horrible raise preflop, especilly with a relatively short stack. you are forcing a huge pot and you don't want to play your hand in a big pot

Y'know, my and Sunny and Ed's volume 1 may not have a great deal in it for HSNL players, but the answer to your hand will be obvious after you read it.
You had better be correct and not just weak-tight if you're going to lay down there. |
