Based on the amount of times I see threads like this, I think from now on I'm just gonna register for tourneys that I can't play in and then get my friend, brother, dog to play. I think the key is also to have an ambiguous compensation plan if they win, something like "we'll split it up fairly" or "we'll figure it out after."

Step 1) Sign up for tourney that I can't play
Step 2) ?????
Step 3) Profit

you suck at posting. The thread is asking if he should give MORE than 50%, not less.

You suck at posting. It doesn't matter is he's asking if he should give more or less or even, all of these matters should be settled beforehand.

Asking if he should give more than the 50/50 is like starting a thread saying "the waitress was good, should I tip her 20% instead of 15%?"

who cares? if you want to then do it. If not, stick to arrangement and nobody can be mad.

Isn't 50/50 a pretty standard staking deal? Some of my friends would think I was a jerk if I tried to give them more than their cut. Just give him his half.

Half is fair.

Fwiw, he would need an ROI of >100 for to make 50% of wins +ev for you. I know it's a friend of yours, but I really doubt a player with a 2k bankroll is anywhere near this.

Obviously you weren't worrying about EV and just didn't feel like playing, but 50% is generous enough IMO.

Congrats on your recent killer scores.

Split it 50/50 like you said in the deal, but go celebrate at a titty bar and or something and cover the bill.

for me and my poker friends standard for this kind of thing is to do 50/50 as stated and then i would also take them out for a very nice dinner either me and the friend or if hes married we take the wives.

celebrating big wins is half the fun of poker. especially when you split a score with another poker player.
