Re: Another cash-game series to be televised

I don't see them filling a max of two tables with a show that'll be airing mainly overnight weekends in slots usually filled by infomercials. [/ QUOTE ] I think you're probably going to see a lot of really "unique" personalities, mixed with a few surprisingly good players. If they find a couple of talented, knowledgeable announcers and BRING BACK SHANA, they've got guaranteed big ratings numbers! |

Re: Another cash-game series to be televised
I like how they jacked the name "The Big Game" and incorporated it into their title to try to equate it with the 'real' Big Game. Nice marketing ploy.

Re: Another cash-game series to be televised
Well, this may be more interesting than what HSP has become or it could be a total flop. HSP has become another showcase for the same tired flavor-of-the-month celebrity tournament players. It's still the best poker on TV but this new cash game might be interesting as you will definitely have more players who don't know each other's style of play than in HSP where most of them play cash games against each other on a regular basis.
The downside is that it could be easily be a a rock garden as well. From the website it looks as if 3 of the 18 will get their seats from either the Internet or through a super satellite. Many who would play a $500 satellite would probably be content to play really tight and be happy walking out of there at midnight with 20 large. |

Re: Another cash-game series to be televised
Barry Greenstein, Doyle and Todd Brunson, Kenna James, among other known players are paying to be on the show. They don't seem to have a problem with it.
