Default ($11) J-J in BB Level: 2

How do you play the turn here?

Villain has been playing alot of hands. He could have a Q or a flush draw with some silly random suited cards.

I don't like the pot getting so large but I think I might still have the best hand.

Call preflop, you have a hand that's going to be difficult to play OOP postflop... lots of flops you don't like.

But if you decide to raise, which you did, you have to raise WAY bigger than 160, that is pretty much inviting callers. And that's one of the main reasons that I just call preflop in this particular hand... b/c you already have 1 raiser and then 2 callers, so any meaningful raise is going to be very large and will probably still get a caller or 2. You're just bloating the pot with a difficult hand to play out of position.

Anyway, as played I check the turn.

Yeah. Preflop it's better just to call. Mind you, at an $11, you can probably shove it very profitably there too. There's t240 to pick up and you'll be called by hands you have crushed more often than you'd think. It's a bit over-killish, but definitely not the worst line. Raising to t160 was quite possibly the worst thing to do, though. Limp >> Shove >>>>>> Raise.

As he said.

For the raise, the 3BB + 1BB/limper formula works quite well. So make it 360, here. But I prefer a check.

Ok thanks guys.

I can see now that my raise preflop to $220 was obviously pointless. I think I was debating between a big raise and a check so I bet somewhere I between... lol at myself

Let's assume I had just checked preflop, do you ever take a shot at the flop with just one overcard on the board? Or just check/fold?

Would you ever limp QQ, KK, here preflop when you're in the BB and there are so many limpers? I hate playing OOP...

Nah, QQ/KK is a raise. JJ isn't.

Clear check-fold on the flop.
