First orbit at the table. I'm trying to get away from "great laydowns"; however, in this spot it seems to be open for discussion:
LMP is a poster. Folded to LMP who checks. I raise Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] on the button. SB and BB both call. 4 to the flop for 8 SB's. Flop: 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Looks like a pretty good flop for my hand. SB donks, and everone calls. WTF???? I raise, and they all c-c-c-call. Turn: 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] They all check to me, and I bet. SB checkraises (!) and the other two fold. OK. I know in shorthanded play you have to call down a lot more often. I'm thinking, this was a 4-way pot on the flop. SB donked on the flop and cold-called my flop raise and checkraised on the turn. QQ is a powerful hand in a 4-way pot. What do you do in this case? |

I call down, but I'm a showdown monkey.
Really, it makes absolutely no sense for him to be facing the field with two cold on the turn if he does have a (rather obvious) FH. Which of course means nothing when you're talking about an unknown, but I think you get shown a bluff or a weaker PP often enough to justify the calldown. |

against an unknown I call this down, expecting to lose though...

I would call down too and expect to see a 6, he was probably planning on super slowplaying but got jumpy when that 8 came. However, he could just be making a move with A high or a pp lower than QQ. Also he could have a flush or straight draw and just be making a move on this pot with that scary board. If you had a better read I wouldn't blame you for folding here.

[/ QUOTE ] He does charge the max for anyone holding a 6, a big PP that can't get away, or perhaps an Ace/King high. Simply check-calling this turn is going to look suspicious too and make everyone weary about calling just one bet thinking they are drawing dead. I tend to take a more weak-tight approach to this hand. Three people called the flop bet. Yes they could all have a draw of some sort, but I feel there is a good chance one holds a 6 or 8 here. If I cannot fold this turn to a raise, I would check the turn through and give everyone a free river card. I want my showdown. |

I think betting turn is ok. SB may be protecting his hand with pocket pair lower than yours. Pot is big (10BB) so I think you can call 2 more bets.

I think you have to bet/call down or check behind on turn.

Even if he flipped his cards over and showed you a 6, you would still have to call the turn.

I'd check behind the turn and call one on the river.
