You should have some reads on BB so you have an idea what he threebets. What are your plans to begin with with this hand? To steal blinds? I would have folded preflop. But if the game is tight this is right to try to steal or get HU with the blind. But now he threebets you. Your plan is crashed but you cannot fold getting 1:5.5 with a suited hand. But what is your plan now. You have 5 outs and a backdoor flush + you may be ahead against anything than a pair, but you can be sure he has high cards then.
You should raise the flop - he may fear you have trips. If he reraises call and se how the turn works out. If he doesn't you can see how the turn card looks and maybe take a free card. The turn look scary but I think you would have to call it down unless an A or K falls.

Another deceptive strategy is to cap the flop and you may put him on the defensive.

I would raise the flop to get more information.
Fold the turn, you have middle pair, no draws and a small pot.

snitch--any reads? in a blind battle i like this line actually, especially if he's capable of firing 3 barrels, which didn't used to be that common at 1/2 but seems to be more prevalent these days. with unimproved overs he may keep trying to push you off the pot, whereas if you go crazy he folds his nothing and blasts you away if he does have a big hand. i mean the problem is that this could be any pocket pair really, maybe 7s and up, or it could be ak/aq, and you have to call it down some and get reads on the guy or whatever.

You have 2 choices on the flop. Fold or raise. Call is NOT an option . . . . . well, it was for you LOL

The pre flop raise is fine.

You hit 2nd pair and folding would be a very good option, a raise would tell you how much you are going to have to pay to continue.

I would have folded!
