Default J5o hand in the big blind.

This hand is from a $20/180, early in the tournament. Villain is TAG, so far anyway - we've only played 20 hands. My image is tight - haven't played a hand yet this tourney. Assume we all have full stacks (this is very close to the truth).

Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is BB with 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
UTG calls t30 <font color="aaaaaa">(pot was t45)</font>, 5 folds, Button calls t30 <font color="aaaaaa">(pot was t75)</font>, SB calls t15 <font color="aaaaaa">(pot was t105)</font>, Hero checks.

Standard, obviously.

Flop: 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (t120, 4 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, UTG checks, Button checks.

same

Turn: J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (t120, 4 players)
<font color="#cc0000">SB bets t60</font>, Hero calls t60 <font color="aaaaaa">(pot was t180)</font>, UTG calls t60 <font color="aaaaaa">(pot was t240)</font>, Button folds.

I assume this call is OK, villain could be stealing a pot that he thinks no one has hit, or he could have picked up a str8/flush draw.

River: 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (t300, 3 players)
<font color="#cc0000">SB bets t150</font>, <font color="#cc0000">Hero raises to t420</font>, UTG folds, <font color="#cc0000">SB raises all-in t1495</font>, Hero folds.
Uncalled bets: t1075 returned to SB.

Sweet the card I wanted to see. I raise here because I think I can extract some value from KJ/AJ/QJ type hands (true??) with the intention of folding to a push. I debated this decision for quite some time. The last decision seemed easier to me - he simply would not push with an inferior hand here, and I got out. thoughts?

Results:
Final pot: t1140

I think your play is fine, although I may not raise the river.

hmmmm.....i don't think your hand is good enough to value raise, board has a lot of straight potential and there are 3 players who see the river....i dont think your river play is neccesarily bad. i would just call in fear of UTG. Although UTG folded in this scenario. no idea what sb has
