Default ($33) 88 in CO, 7-handed...plan of action?

PokerStars Tournament, Big Blind is t100 (7 handed) Converter on pregopoker.com

UTG (t2890)
UTG+1 (t615)
MP1 (t2165)
Hero (t1475)
Button (t3235)
SB (t2160)
BB (t960)

Preflop: Hero is in CO with 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
<font color="gray">UTG folds</font>, <font color="gray">UTG+1 folds</font>, <font color="gray">MP1 folds</font>, <font color="red">Hero ???</font>

I often feel uncomfortable in situations like this. Pushing seems premature when I'm 15xBB, but a 3xBB raise is 20% of my stack and, if called, I'm in a ugly situation unless my hand improves on the flop.

What's your plan of action here?

What factors do you consider before proceeding?

What if we were CO+1 instead of CO?

what's the buy-in?

I play in $5.5 and I'd probably raise to 250 then cbet 350 on most flops. I think 88 is the min for me. I'm folding 77 here.

In the CO, I'd probably push it pf.....

I'm not sure what position I would fold...it would depend on what ranges you put the remaining players on....

Sorry, but a raise and a contibet is just awful...if you are not sure, I`d suggest to limp, but pushing isn`t bad either. You only loose against a higher Pocketpair and are a slight favourite against anything else. Raising is bad, because most flops will have overs...What would you do if raised on the flop...Thats just an awful situation, since you used pretty much of your stack.
I`d push, since you have some Fold Equity. Foldingis not to bad either...but dont be scared to push this one. Actually you have a M a bit lower than 10 (dont forgett the SB)...so pushing is +EV

M is not really applicable to SNG's....where is Tigerite when you need him.....

I think I agree. According to SNGPT, this is a push (EV Diff. +0.5% / $1.43), though with varying calling ranges, it could go either way.

I think raising is a leak though.

I'd generally make it 250. I'd do the same from CO+1.

Of course M is applicable to SnG's. It just needs to be calibrated a bit differently than Harrington recommends.

Anyway, even though I have no doubt pushing is +EV, I don't like it here in a regular structure $33. It's just too early IMO to put in all your chips with 88 when you have 15BB (or 10M, if you swing that way). You can be much more patient here than in a turbo, as you're likely to find several better spots.

If I thought a raise to t250 stood a decent chance of taking it preflop, that's what I would do. If called, I would evaluate how to proceed after I see the flop.

In rare cases I would push preflop.

Actually you have a W = 14.75 ...so pushing might be +EV, depending on their calling range.
