The river fold is pretty bad. As Pete says I can be valuebetting AK here, and it's also possible for me to be bluffing a KQs type hand, thinking you picked up an ace high flush draw on the turn. I'm also playing 77 and 88 this way.

[/ QUOTE ]

You're 3betting a TAG UTG raise with KQs and 88 now? God you must be running hot.

No this was specific against bugstud, and maybe my read was off but I considered him somewhat laggy. I still automuck those against players I perceive to be tight raisers.

So Justin -- not that it matters, but what did you have in this hand?

I know I'm coming to the party late, but how bad is it to check raise this flop and why would that be a bad line?

edit: Or, just betting out on the flop initially... as well.

it is "the other line" and you should be using both lines at different times "randomly" on identical boards/situations.

Then he knows you to be a solid pro.

open UTG with 99, folded to Justin on the button who 3bets

[/ QUOTE ]

Justin is 3 betting a solid pro that raised UTG. What's Justin's hand?

[ QUOTE ]
I'm looking for somewhere between misplayed on every street and utter brilliance.

By folding the river you appear to be trying to play poker perfectly. Poker is a game of imperfect information. Poker decisions are situational. Your decision appears to be based on the long term EV of this situation. This case exposes a weakness in that approach. This is without question the only hand, 9,9, given the situation that you would play this way and consider folding the river. A,K or A,Q gets played differently. T,T or bigger pairs you will at least call the river and with smaller pairs you won't open raise UTG. Consequently this situation and how it is played has very little if any effect on your long term results except that it does show to what extreme one can take trying to play perfectly with imperfect information.
