Default Opponent Gives Up (LC)

Low content!

Today, playing 4/8 Limited Hold Them, I raise pre-flop with big slick from the 3 seat, only small blind calls from the 8 seat. Flop comes A-9-3 rainbow, small blind donks it, I call intending to raise the turn. Turn comes a K, SB leads, I raise, he calls. River blanks, SB checks, I bet, he calls. I flip over two-pair, he turns to an older woman in the 7 seat, discreetly shows her his two cards, then he tosses them face down into the middle of the table.

At this point, I'm a little curious as to what he called down with, but decide it better to just rake in the pot. Then, guy in the 1 seat chimes in with a "Can we all see those since he showed her?", so the dealer takes the mucked hand, touches it to the deck (I guess to kill the hand?) then turns it over to reveal pocket 3s for a flopped set.

Dealer starts pushing pot to me, SB interrupts, dealer explains, SB nods.

Ship it.

If you had asked to see the hand, he would have won.

Yes, I was aware of that. I'm never curious enough to risk "winning" a pot.

Yeah, in most casinos the rule is if the winning player asks to see another hand that reached showdown that hand is live. If another player asks its still dead.

Imagine the fights that would break out if people who asked to see a hand cost another player the pot. That would be insanity.
