inducing a call...
9 handed 2/5 no limit at the rio. Villain is an LAG who has made several A high all in calls already.
Utg(275) calls Mp1 folds Mp2 calls Mp3 calls LP1 calls Hero(240)A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] raises to 25 Button folds SB calls BB folds UTG folds MP1 folds MP2 calls MP3 folds LP1 calls flop: J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Villain bets out 35 MP2 folds LP3 folds Hero calls Turn 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Villain bets out 55 Hero raises all in 125 more. Villain stares me down and tries to provoke me to give out information. Verbally confirms suspicion that he has mid pair and he says that he puts me on AK or AQ. I only respond that its 125 to go. How can I talk him into a call? Is staying silent (but returning his stare) the right thing to do? After two minutes of a stare down, should I call clock to pressure a call? I know I'm ahead to a two outter, so how do I get him to call? Thanks. |

Re: inducing a call...
Do anything! Knock over your chips, and quickly pick them back up, try to sound nervous when you talk, spill your drink.
Try to think back to one of the A high calldowns he made, what were the other guys doing in those hands? Against guys like this, I like to raise the flop. |

Re: inducing a call...
When people stare you down they look for a reason to call, not to fold. So just give him one, do anything out of the ordinary.

Re: inducing a call...
I wouldn't say what you said, that's for sure. To me, your comment actually shows strength. Big Jim's tips are top-notch. Also, villain's bets practically give away his hand; against this player, I would make a good old min-raise on the turn. You know he's calling, and it leaves less to get in on the river...
