Re: How Sngwizard assign the calling range?
In the future, you should probably use the SitNGo Wizard Support Forum questions like this. I will try to give you answer here anyway.
Prior this week, the SitNGo Wizard ran simplified ICM analyses from the point of view of each opponent to estimate opponent hand ranges. This usually resulted in a sort of “optimal” hand range for each opponent. However, most opponents rarely play optimally so the estimates often seemed unrealistic. This has been by far the single biggest criticism of the Wizard. It is also why I stress that you not rely on the default estimates. One of the most important skills of a SitNGo player can have is putting your opponents on hand ranges. You should be able to make more accurate estimates than a computer. It’s easy to change any hand range, just click on it. In the latest release, the Wizard uses a rule-based approach to estimating opponent hand ranges. The rules are basically a table of hand ranges for various situations. This approach has several advantages. First, the estimates should be more realistic. Second, the rule-base approach is much faster than the analytical approach. Tournaments now load much faster. In the near future users will be able to control the estimates by tweaking values in a table. Users will also be able to define multiple tables for different opponent types (loose, tight, etc.) and then assign the opponent types to actual opponents. Even after all these enhancements are in place, you should not rely on the default estimates. There are just too many variables involved for the computer to take into account. You should always be able to make better estimates. |
