5/10 Foxwoods regulars I have questions you got answers......
I have a few questions about the 5/10 game at Foxwoods. Any information would be helpful, thanks in advance.
1) Is it always a kill? 2) What are the parameters for the kill? 3) How is the competition say compared to the 4/8 FW game? 4) How much do you usually buy in for? I would think more than a regular 5/10 game because of the kill pot. 5) What is the best time to play in this game? Thanks again, Mygtar |

Re: 5/10 Foxwoods regulars I have questions you got answers......
My experience is admittedly a bit dated on this one (it's been a while since I played the game).
1) No. Usually a kill, but not always 2) Someone scoops a pot > $100, which is pretty easy at $5/10 3) Maybe one or two more people at the table who actually know how to fold, but by no means tough 4) $300 in my case, but I wouldn't offer myself as at all normal. 5) When they spread it. |

Re: 5/10 Foxwoods regulars I have questions you got answers......
It's been a few months for me but earlier this year I couldn't get enough of this game. It's not true that it's usually a kill. I'd say a little less than half the time the game is @ 10/20 so you could guess that the big bet is around $14 or so.
The game is filled with terrible players. The terrible players might have a different MO than the 4/8 donkeys, as many of them are playing higher to avoid "idiots" but their fundamental understanding of the game is often more flawed than average because of their misconceptions. Kill pots are a lot of fun. Most players have no business playing 10/20 and it does weird things to players. Some tighten up which gives you a chances to steal the blinds & posted kill, depending on its position. Some players live for kill pots and will pay 4 bets any way they can with 78s trying to make a big score. Exploitable game, Foxwoods doesn't spread many tables so the wait is often very long. |

Re: 5/10 Foxwoods regulars I have questions you got answers......
1) depends on the game, sometimes it's 90% kills, sometimes it's 10%
2) non-split pot >$100 3) I find table selection to be far more important in 5/10 than the 4/8. Sometimes the 5/10 is amazing, sometimes it sucks. 4) I buy a full rack of red ($500) 5) weekend evenings/overnights, like most any other game |

I competely agree with Jar. Although be prepared for wild swings in your stack due to the wide variances in pot sizes.

Thanks Jar and all that have replied. When I move up, hopefully in the next six months or so would I be better off just getting into the 10/20 game instead? Does that game play similar? Thanks again for any info.
See you all at the 'Woods!!! |

Re: 5/10 Foxwoods regulars I have questions you got answers......
Personally I prefer the FW 4/8 because it's so ridiculous but the 5/10 offers different flavors of fish. Take a shot and see for yourself.
1. Depends on the table obviously. I haven't found this game to be as high-action as 4/8, possibly due to the appearance of a smaller pot on non-kill rounds. 3. You will find more people who know how to fold, but some people fold too much which is a rarity at 4/8. Learn how to exploit both the folders and the callers. 4. $300 to $500 5. Whenever the table is not ridiculously tight, the game is good. Friday/Saturday night after you've been running good at 4/8 is your best time to try it out. |

Thanks again for any info. [/ QUOTE ] I LOVE the Foxwoods 5/10 game. I usually find it to be a gold mine, although one has to be prepared for the occasional $300-$500 downswing. On the other hand, the five or so times I tried the 10/20 game I found it to be a rock garden. |

Re: 5/10 Foxwoods regulars I have questions you got answers......
I've only played the 10/20 once. It was a miserable, miserable time. The nits at 10/20 were saying that the game is better at 20/40.

Re: 5/10 Foxwoods regulars I have questions you got answers......
It's been a long time since I've been to foxwoods but I've played 5/10, 10/20 and 20/40 there. All games were good.
10/20 was the only one where I ever asked for a table change, but that solved the problem. |
