10/20 2pair river decision
Okay WPX is great, so i have to hand write this one out.
The villain in this hand has been raising at least his share of hands, and is prob between TAG and LAG. This hand came up 6 handed. I have A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG, and limped. sometimes i like to do this with small suited aces to mix it up, (could be a mistake) The villain in the SB raises it. BB calls, and I call. 3 to the flop (6SB) 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Villain bets, BB folds, I called (another mistake?) 2 to the turn (4BB) 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Villain checks, I bet, villain calls 2 to the river (6BB) Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Villain checks, I bet, villain checkraises. You................... Thanks guys, just trying to get back to the fundementals for awhile, as I think I could be doing a lot better than I am. |

Re: 10/20 2pair river decision
6 handed I raise this first in PF.
I would also raise the flop. I can't see folding the river but it looks to me like maybe QQ. How far off am I? |

Re: 10/20 2pair river decision
I think limping UTG is really bad. When you get raised (like 80% of the time), you're screwed. If you miss the flop, you're done. If you catch an Ace, you're gonna pay off a better one or make a small profit. Not a spot I'd like to get into.

Re: 10/20 2pair river decision
I'm pretty sure you have to know you are a big favorite in a 6-handed game before you play A2s-A7s UTG. If you are, then you would be raising this. Other than that, I very much like the way you played the hand and think just calling the river raise is the prudent choice.
I suggest you post this in one of the short handed forums, as the quality of the advice there is excellent. |

[/ QUOTE ] Your use of "just calling" makes me think you're deciding between call and 3-bet. I think the OP is wondering whether to call or fold. I would insta-call, but expect to lose to AQ/QQ a good chunk of the time (but not often enough to dictate a pot-odds fold). |

Re: 10/20 2pair river decision
Calling is really your only option IMO. There are very few hands that villain will play this way that you will have +EV to three bet.

Re: 10/20 2pair river decision
I was thinking about a 3bet, as this would be a VERY oddly played AQ. I mean why would he go from preflop raiser to flop bettor, to check caller, to check raiser. I wussed out as I figured I was going to lose 2 extra bets if he did happen to have AQ QQ etc. He showed Q2o, I laughed, and put a nice little note on him

Re: 10/20 2pair river decision
Don't open limp from MP in full games means don't open limp UTG in 6 handed games. I would fold this unless the table is really tight and hasn't adjusted to shorthanded play. Other than that I think you played it fine. Call the river check raise.
