Default A Proposal

The AC versus statism debate is pointless. AC types believe government is fundamentally immoral as it coerces people to do things they don't want to do against their will. Statists believe AC types are living in a magical fairy land filled with delicious gumdrop unicorns. Both of these viewpoints have their merits, but it's clear they cannot mutually coexist in a thread.

It's not unlike the incessant and pointless debate in the SMP forum between atheists and Christians. One group's belief system (the statists) is predicated upon a foundational assumption (that a state is necessary). If you don't share this foundational assumption, then there's nothing to argue about, really.

Therefore, I propose that AC types quit posting in statist threads, and vice versa. And that strikes or warnings, or whatever, be doled out whenever someone derails a thread in the following fashion:

OP--"How many seats do you guys think the democrats will pick up this Tuesday"

AC Type--"LOL Voteaments. What difference does it make which thug is running the prison?"

or

OP--"What sort of educational system might we expect to see in AC Land."

Statist--"Dunno. What kind of educational system do they have in Somalia?"

I think the above should warrant banning if committed with any consistency. Let's just live and let live, shall we?

Don't be an idiot. I'll happily disagree with Republicans all day long. I just don't want to argue about the fundamental need for government for the reasons listed above.
