Question about withdrawal fees
Why do some online sports books charge withdrawal fees, while almost no online poker sites (at least none of the ones I play at) do?

Re: Question about withdrawal fees
sportsbook profit margins are lower relative to the amount of money churned through it in the process vs. online poker. card tables are raked up to 5% every 60 seconds on an infinitely expandable number of games. sports events are finite, often illiquid, subject to bookmaker's variance risk, sides/middles, and take several hours to play out (and that doesn't even account early and futures wagering time).
free w/d on online poker sites is a transparent convenience paid for by the avalanche of rake revenue. many sportsbooks do not have so lucky or consistent a stream of money to cover the constant banking activity which occurs after a day's or weekend's worth of games. even by charging, they are still usually taking a small loss on transactions relative to what Neteller actually charges them to both deposit and cash out accounts. |
