USA player on pokerroom
I'd really like to play the $5k tournament this saturday on Pokerroom but I'm from the United States. I've never played on pokerroom before. I searched through a bunch of old posts but I'm still confused as to what the situation is.
I read in one post that they still allow US players until November 6th. That would allow me to play and also I should have no problems playing the live portion of the tournament. (In Barcelona in December I believe.) However I also read something about a technical solution to block US players from real money games. Has that been implemented? I read in a different post that all you have to do is register an address outside the United States and you will be allowed to play with no restrictions. I'm reluctant to believe that is the case but even if it is: If I make it deep in this tournament and show up to play the live portion I will certainly be required to show photo ID. Which will indicate I am a US citizen. What will they do? Third Question: Suppose I play on a Canadian friend's account (and he plays the live portion obviously) is there any chance of them looking at my IP and doing something during the tournament? Other concerns: What methods exist to fund my account? To get my deposit limits over 5k would I have to scan an ID? Do they allow large enough transfers between players? Does the tournament pay out in cash/check live or deposit to the player accounts? Should I just email these questions to support? |

Re: USA player on pokerroom
If you're an existing player, you can play until 11/6. If you're a new signup you are not supposed to be able to deposit or create an account from now until then. Whether it's true or not I have no idea.
You can email support but don't expect a response before 11/6 (of 2007). |

What about transfers? I think I might have created a play money account a long time ago.

Re: USA player on pokerroom
can US players on PokerRoom make payer to player transfers?
I'm low on cash there and I only have 250 points left to clear my 500 bonus. I might try to get someone to trade me some cash for neteller cash. |

Re: USA player on pokerroom
I finally cleared my $500 bonus today. I have about $1600 sitting on there. Do I cash it out or will I be ok until the 6th?

Re: USA player on pokerroom
You should find most of the answers you need in their official statements.
U.S. players won't be able to play real money games starting November 6. November 4 is before November 6, so you can play the ONPC. There's also a post here from a PR person saying U.S. players can play it. There's an ONPC announcement (might be the one revoking the guarantee) that says U.S. players who make it to the live final will still get the trip and their winnings. Your problem would be if you don't already have a real money account with enough money in it, since AFAIK you can't create a new real money account (this probably includes real-money enabling an existing play money account) or deposit if you have an account but not enough funds. And if you play on someone else's account and/or send someone else to Barcelona if you make it, I think you can safely count on never seeing a penny of winnings. |
