$1/2 NLHE live game at casino, short handed. There are 6 of us playing. I have approx $400 behind me. Guy with baseball hat (GWBH) to my left has about $1400. Guy on my right (GOMR) has about $1,000. Other 3 guys have same or less as me.
My table image is slightly tilty. I had came to this table and lost about $320 in about 1/2 hour playing a lot of hands and generally playing like an idiot (from some bad beats from the other table). I had bought in again for $300 and was playing aggressively. I was still down about $300 for the night and my mindset was that I really just wanted to try to get even by doubling up my stack. GWBH has been raising a lot of pots; small raising; he folds to aggression on flop or turn, so I think he is just trying to keep the pots juiced and try to hit a flop and hurt someone; also, I think he is trying to isolate against me because he thinks I'm tilty. GWBH makes it $10 to go preflop on the button, 2 callers to my right and I call with T3 sooted. Flop is 332 rainbow. Check-check. I check and GWBH checks. Turn is a T for a board of 332T with 2 hearts now. I am pretty happy about the turn. It goes check-check from the first two players. I think about betting but feel that I have the nuts at this point and would love for someone to hit a flush. GWBH obliges and bets $15 at the $40 pot. Guy in first position, who had me slightly outstacked, raises to $40 total. My read on him as that he was a little rockish. I had not seen him win a lot of pots, but rather he did a lot of folding to turn and river bets. GOMR calls the $40. I call the $40 and GWBH calls the additional $25. Pot is now $200ish. River is a 2 of hearts for a board of 332T2 with 3 hearts. I have T3. First position guy fires $75 at the $200 pot. 2nd position guy folds and it is my turn to act. I have about $350 behind me at this point. I look over at GWBH and he does not appear to have a whole lot of interest in the hand anymore. What would you do? Just call the $75 or pop it up? Also, let me know if you have any advice for any of the other streets. |

Yes, I know T3 is a horrible hand. I'm not normally calling raises with T3. As i said, I was playing a little tiltish trying to get my money back, trying to spike a flop and trap one of the other players. The preflop bet was $10 and I have $400. I'm getting huge implied odds if I can spike a flop (or turn, as it turned out) and double through someone. I understand the advice to fold preflop, but I guess I am more interested in advice for the flop and turn, after having flopped 333 and turned TT333. And for the river when the 2 comes and the guy who took control of the betting on the turn leads out for 75 into the 200 pot.

Anyway, to end the misery: I decide to raise the river bet. I raise $150 on top of the $75 bet from the guy in first position. GWBH folds behind me. First position guy pushes and I call of my last $125 or so. He shows 22 for quad deuces and I lose $400.
In retrospect, I think I should have just called the $75 bet on the river. TT and 22 crush me. However, I didn't put him on TT because he raised the turn bet. I didn't even really think about 22. I figured he had a 3 or a 2. But if he had a 2, then he's probably not calling a big raise by me. On one hand, obviously the more careful move on the river is to just call the $75. However, I have really been trying to make more value bets on the river when I think I have best hand. Part of me thinks I am destined to lose all my money on this hand when the guy rivers quads. So was my river raise and call completely horrible? go ahead, tell me I suck. Always trying to learn, man... |
