Check-call the river. Most of the hands that would call or raise your bet will also bet if checked to (boats, both better and worse than yours). Plus there are hands that won't call if you bet, but might bet if you check (missed flush draws).

Against a habitual stealer, I like your flop re-raise. [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] 3 bet is ok here w/ Ts and i would probably play it the same way. [/ QUOTE ] These comments are much too weak. I am 3-betting this without a second thought. The only way I am not 3-betting this is if button is a very special kind of opponent who only raises AA-JJ first in in late position. There may be such a player out there, but I do not know any. |

[ QUOTE ]
Woul this river be another case where bet fold maximizes value? [/ QUOTE ] I don't think so. Read Aaron's answer. That seems right to me. If you bet, busted flush draws all fold, possibly some small pairs are folding. But others are raising, and you've folded the best hand to them. [ QUOTE ] If we plan a check call line and are going to pay 1 bet, does it make more sense? [/ QUOTE ] No, it doesn't. We think we're often winning here. A big ace is probably raising the turn; ditto a 9. [ QUOTE ] If not, how is this different than some of the other river bet/folds I've seen recommended? [/ QUOTE ] Because a raise does not mean you're beaten here. In other spots, you believe that the only hands that raise beat you or are bluffs. |

Thanks for all the help everyone. Sadly, he had a weak ace and just smooth called until the river.
Here's hoping for some happier hands to post in the future. - DM |
