Why is a good thread being turned into a dick waving contest?

I really can't see myself folding there especially versus a highly competent opponent whose range is going to be so much wider than just the nuts on the turn. I mean, you don't even have to have a hand to float that flop and raise the turn, forget 99, and he should be very well aware of that.

Excluding medium-strength hands (like AK) that he would be playing for pot control, I'd put his turn re-raising range at 88/AA/TJs/air, with a lesser possibility of 33's in there, which he might overplay on a rare occasion but would probably be more likely to start playing for PC as well. So no, I don't see getting away. Oh, and I don't fold sets.

Shove. Sometimes you have to lose your money and if he has AA this is one of those spots. You can't expect to win in HU poker if you fold second set with no completed draws pretty much ever.

Thanks for the advice fish2plus2. Your posts clearly show a very advanced understanding of HU play that I can obviously learn from.

Given how this hand played out from preflop action, I would tell you 2000. I probably wouldn't consider folding this hand HU, full ring is a different story if its the right player.

Sam,

If his range is that wide, you have the best hand. If he calls with 88,33, or JTs, or worse -- push.

How much you are willing to lose with the second nuts depends only upon how much he's willing to lose with hands you beat.

If you're up against a complete idiot who calls with top pair for any amount, you should be willing to lose as many BB as your bankroll allows.
