Default AK high vs LAG

villain is very loose and agressive over 50 datamined hands (50/20/2.5 steez)

Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Preflop: Hero is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. CO posts a blind of $2.
2 folds, CO (poster) checks, 2 folds, Hero raises, CO calls.

Flop: (4.50 SB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, CO raises, Hero calls.

Turn: (4.25 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets, Hero calls.

River: (6.25 BB) A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, CO raises, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 10.25 BB

I was pretty baked and didn't realise CO had just posted pf FWIW. I would have respected his raise a bit more (since he'd have more possible hand combinations with 7s and 9s) but I wouldn't have laid it down even then. should I have? what if he had just limped preflop?

You played this hand fine until the river. I hope you realize after the hand that your river bet had no value. Either this guy has 7x,9x, or nothing. So the river is a standard check/call situation since a bet loses money against that range. For you nits out there I realize that a bet may induce a bluffraise, but this wonderful event wont happen often enough to turn this river bet from a money loser into a money maker.

i agree with you but also want to add that it's a little closer because lots of bad players will call any two cards if they realize they have two pair with an ace kicker.

There is only one sane way to play this hand.

Fold to the flop raise.
As played, fold to the turn bet.
As played, since you went to the river and you made your hand, check/call and see his full house 97% of the time.
As played, fold to the river raise after making that ridicuous river bet.

Because of course LAG's only raise paired flops when they connect with the board. What games do you play in?

It was determined long ago that TomBrooks plays the 5 gumdrop/10 gumdrop game in Candyland.

He claims to have played 20/40. For his sake I hope he plays better then he posts because some of his stuff is rediculous.

There is no way you can fold the flop to this type of opponent. He could be raising a gutshot, a small PP, perhaps a 9. These type of guys would never raise trips on the flop. The hero might have the best hand with AK, and if he doesn't, his ace and king outs are almost always live against this guy. The only thing he did wrong was not to check/call the river.
