I just found a copy of "Why We Nap" by Stampi, the only real scientific volume on Polyphasic sleep I could find. Can't wait to read through it.

Sleeping every 4 hours seems a very short time between every sleeping periode.. Anyone ever tried sleeping like 30min every 6 hours instead?

Im pretty sure you can do 'quadphasic' sleep (4 sleeps a day) but you would need to sleep probably more than 30 mins each go- probably more like 45mins-1 hour a go.
Good luck to those trying this, its a very handy thing to be able to revert to when times are tough for time

Bump to see if anyone has successfully done this who said they were going to try it, or perhaps to get some renewed interest in this.

I just finished school and I am considering doing this some more.

I really don't get you people. I sleep all day and every four hours I wake up for 20 minutes to do something "productive"

There is another big thread that was in OOT awhile ago on this subject too. I think it had alot of information in it. I dont feel like digging it up. But if you are really interested in it you should dig it up.

Tried this for all of March, and was moderately successful. The big problem for me is that I don't fall asleep fast, and I sleepwalk. I ended up quitting after multiple times of sleepwalking my alarms off. I went as far as hiding my alarm, but still woke up 3 hours later with the alarm turned off.

This is worthwhile only if you have alot to get done, ALOT of motivation, and alot of flexability.

havn't read through the whole thread yet, so forgive me if this has been answered...

Even if I'm tired, it usually takes me at least 30 minutes to fall asleep. Sometimes well over an hour. I guess if I'm dead tired then I can fall asleep within a few minutes, but thats pretty rare. So does the 20 minutes start from as soon as I lay down? If so that'd really suck and not work at all for me.
